Demon Slayer (鬼滅の刃/Kimetsu no Yaiba) is an anime that started airing in 2019 and is hosted on Netflix, based on the manga serialised in Shounen Jump Magazine from 2016 to 2020. The anime focuses on Kamado Tanjiro as he trains to become a Demon Slayer in order to find a cure for his sister Nezuko after his family was attacked by demons.

Why do I like Demon Slayer?

Cuz it'z cool!!!!1111!1!1!!! No, uh, I knew about Demon Slayer before but it didn't interest me much; I don't usually like action or shounen anime, but a friend recommended it to me and I said I'd try it out for him, since he's such a huge fan of the series. What I didn't expect was for me to fall in love with the anime because it wasn't my style at all. But now it's one of my favourite animes of all time because of the characters and, most importantly, the immaculate visuals.

Favourite things about the anime

nezuko

Oh my god I want to protect Nezuko with my whole life. Absolute adorable ball of sunshine AND she keeps her morals by refusing to eat any humans. She's lucky to have someone like Tanjiro as her brother who's willing to put himself in all kinds of danger just to protect and heal Nezuko. Because I mean, if I were Tanjiro, I would do the exact same thing! She's worth protecting!

zenitsu

Sometimes I only feel like I like Zenitsu because the guy who recommended Demon Slayer's favourite character is also Zenitsu (he even cosplayed him), but when I saw him in the anime, the only thing I could think was "am I him or am I in love with him?" The answer is both, but I really do relate to Zenitsu in the sense that I'm a scared little shit, I'm desperate for love, you piss me off enough I will beat you up, I shout a lot and I'm short. But other than that, we don't talk about how I made my computer and phone theme all yellow and Zenitsu. He's just a sweet boy.
